Living Wild: The Green Lizard
13th January, 2014
This little creature can be found all over Barbados, roaming rocks, lush green plants and even in your own backyard! The Green Lizard (Anolis extremus) is a popular lizard on the island and are commonly known as cock lizards. This species of lizards are widespread in Barbados; the male lizards have pale lavender to blue-gray heads, with blue eyelids. Their dorsal surfaces are deep green with dark markings and their bellies are yellow. Females are smaller and duller in color and may have a mid-dorsal stripe.
They are not harmful or poisonous so dont worry if you see them when you visit the island!
