50th Anniversary Events

With Barbados’ 50th anniversary just weeks away the celebrations are well underway! Independence Event 1. Nostalgia! An Evening of Barbadian Elegance- Enjoy an elegant cocktail reception hosted by the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honorable Freundel Stuart. Barbadians of all walks of life will come together in one historic location to celebrate the nation’s achievements. Experience a cultural journey of local music, fashion and cuisine as local talent brings the stage to life in a talented showcase. The event will take place at Ilaro Court on Tuesday November 22nd start time 8pm, tickets are $100 BDS and can be purchased here.    

Independence Event 2. Prime Minister's Dinner and Ball- A night of Barbadian excellence and cultural creativity on full display! This elegant event themed, One Golden Moment in Time A Celebration of Excellence, will take place on Friday the 25th November from 7pm at the historic Ilaro Court. Enjoy top cuisine, musical performances and designs at this luxurious black tie event. Tickets are $500 BDS for banquet dining and $1000 BDS for a seat at the chef’s table. Independence Event 3. Barbados Spectacular Featuring the Legends of Spouge- A salute to the genre Spouge on the beautifully picturesque grounds of the Barbados Defence Force's St. Ann's Fort Beach Range on the 26th November from 7:30 pm. The show will feature many of the original entertainers and trailblazers who started the historic genre of music back in the 60's and 70’s. The legacy which they have left behind has gone on to inspire many young artists entering the local music industry today. Enjoy a pre cocktail show of sumptuous Bajan-Style canapes and much more. Independence Event 4. One People One Barbados presents: Chain Link 246- Come out on Monday November 28th and join hands in solidarity, as Barbados recreates November 30th 1979 unbroken human chain link around the island. This amazing moment will live in history as testament to Barbadian’s solidarity and patriotism as we join hands to celebrate the island cast achievements over the years! 92,000 people participated in the original chain link project, it’s time to write our name on history’s page with our own contribution to this great nation! Independence Event 5.  Golden Spectacular Mega Concert- The mega climax of Barbados’ 50th anniversary celebrations! Come out in your national colours and get ready to celebrate the achievements of this little island, as the concert takes a look back at Barbados of yesteryear. The show will be comprised of over 500 performers including international superstar Rhianna performing the islands national anthem. Don’t miss this amazing recreation of history as Barbados’ celebrates a magnificent milestone. The event will take place at The Garrison Savannah on November 30th from 8 pm, admission is absolutely FREE!
