Barefoot on the Beach: The Crane Beach
20th May, 2013We can say that The Crane Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Barbados and is renowned as one of the top 10 beaches in the world by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Along with its ever growing popularity, The Crane Beach also has quite some history. In the 18th cenutry it was considered improper for ladies to be seen bathing in public. Sea bathing however, had become so popular that in 1769 at least one discreet bathing place had been constructed near The Crane. It was referred to as "The Horse" and was approached by steps cut into the sea cliff. Even though they were constructed as far back as 1769, the steps can still be seen descending from the far side of the cliff. As you know we had the opportunity to stay at The Crane a few weeks ago and enjoy the stunning views it had to offer! With an abundance of beach chairs and umbrellas, it is really up to you, when you would like to leisurely stroll down to the beach and relax.
When you are in Barbados, this is a must visit beach.

Hi Janet!
That is great that you are here in Barbados for 4 months! It would depend where you are staying to really say if it is easy to get to the Crane by bus. Buses do pass that area! Definitely check out the farmers markets, they are lovely and a great activity on either a Saturday or Sunday (depending on the specific market you visit).
Hope our blog helps you discover the magic of Barbados!
We would love to hear what you think.
