If you’re in Barbados in August, especially in the beginning of the month, be rest assured, you will definitely have plenty to do! With the Crop Over season in Barbados winding down, the limes, parties and festivals are still as fabulous as ever! Have a look below at a few of the events taking place in August here in the beautiful Barbados

Barbados August Event 1. Crop Over Festival- Bridgetown Market- This event, which is located on Spring Garden Highway, is being held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of August. Every year, Bridgetown Market is held the first weekend of August, which is the weekend of Grand Kadooment. Bridgetown Market is a traditional Bajan affair, with calypso and soca music filling the air, and food and craft vendors lining the street.

Barbados August Event 2. Crop Over Festival- Pic-O-De-Crop- This event is one of the more anticipated Crop Over Festival events of the season and this year, is held on August 2nd. This is when the top nine calypsonians, join the previous years winners, each singing two calypso songs, for the Calypso Competition finale.

Barbados August Event 3. Crop Over Festival- Foreday Morning- Held in the early hours of the morning, Foreday Morning, also called Mud Mas, is on August 3rd this year, and is always the Saturday night before Grand Kadooment. Participants, reveling behind music trucks, dance, drink, and get paint and mud sprayed all over them throughout the streets of Bridgetown. Foreday Morning truly is an exciting event! To register for this event, there are different bands to join.

Barbados August Event 4. Crop Over Festival- Cohobblopot- On August 4th, members of the Kadooment bands go and display their elaborate costumes at the carnival-like show. The most popular calypsonians and bands for the season perform for the masses at Kensington Oval.

Barbados August Event 5. Crop Over Festival- Grand Kadooment- The final Crop Over Festival of the season is Grand Kadooment. Kadooment is held the first Monday of August and this year is August 5th. Revelers, dressed in colourful, elaborate costumes, make their way from the Barbados National Stadium, and dance their way down to Spring Garden, accompanied by a few drinks and blaring calypso music throughout the day. When the participants get to Spring Garden, the lime continues there afterwards with music still playing, and vendors selling food and drinks. What a great way to end the Crop Over season!

Barbados August Event 6. Fantasia in Concert - Fantasia is an American Idol winner and a Grammy winner, and on August 11th, she is coming to Barbados to win the hearts of Bajans - again! A fabulous, international singer in our beautiful little island: a must-see! The concert will be held at The Garfield Sobers Gymnasium and tickets range in price from BDS $50.00-$200.00 and may be purchased from all of the DaCosta Mannings outlets, Ticket Centre in Warrens and The Restaurant at Regency.
