Bottoms Up: Bajan Lemonade19th February, 2014
Whether it is a hot sunny day in Barbados or not, you can usually find Bajan lemonade in just about any local’s fridge. Now, this drink is not be mixed up with what the British call lemonade (sprite), our Bajan lemonade is made from local limes or lemons and is a favourite amongst many travelers. It is one of the most simple, yet refreshing drinks to make on just about any day!
So whether you are in Barbados are not, try out our recipe below:
BAJAN LEMONADE RECIPE
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Juice from 4-6 lemons
4 cups cold water
Blend 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar well in small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves completely. Let cool and refrigerate. (This is the simple syrup.)Mix the simple syrup well with the juice from 4-6 lemons (strained or not, as you like) and stir well. Add 4 cups cold water and mix. Try using sparkling water for some fizz!
