What's Happening: Ambrosia V {Food, Wine and Rum Festival}

26th November, 2014
Ambrosia V: Barbados Food Wine and Rum Festival

Ambrosia is the flagship event of the Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival, many locals and travelers attend and as usual this year it was fully sold out! The event location was different this year, with Ambrosia being held at Illaro Court (the Prime Minister's house). We definitely look forward to this event as it allows us to try many different dishes from both local and overseas chefs and what's better than a diversity of splendid mouthfuls each with unique and complex flavors in one setting!

International chefs such as Stephanie Izard, Anne Burrell, Marcus Samuelson, Roger Mooking and Ed Baines were all cooking up a storm along with the local chefs; Omar Robertson, Guise Ferri, Cecil Gill, Laurin Evelyn, Ashley Davis, Jamar Drakes, Creig Greenidge, Michael Harrison and Marco Festini Cromer.

There were so many options of delicious dishes to choose from, some of our favourites were the black belly sheep tostatos with local okra and lobster and the cured yellow fin tuna with cucumber sorbet, golden apple salsa, cashew and breadfruit melba toast. For dessert, the salted caramel and dark chocoloate tartlet was to die for! Along with all the sumptuous food, there obviously was wine supplied from Wine World and lots of rum to go around by Mount Gay. You could tell that everyone was throroughly enjoying the event!
