Barefoot on the Beach: Sam Lord's Beach

10th June, 2013
Sam Lords Castle Beach Barbados

Located in St Phillip, on the South East coast of Barbados, is Sam Lord’s Beach. Besides being a historical landmark of the (now burnt down) castle built by buccaneer Samuel Hall Lord in the 1820s, Sam Lord’s Beach is a secret favourite amongst locals and visitors alike. For the Historian, the ruins of the once lavish castle, which was later on converted into an elegant hotel, still exist behind the beach, and on the beach itself, still stand the remains of an old dance floor and the counter of a beach bar, where the rich and famous danced, dined and drank. For the vacationer who wishes to relax and unwind, flourishing palm trees sway gracefully, populating the beach, shading scattered benches to aid with the creation of the perfect picnic location. The white, delicate sand is ideal for lying down and soaking up the sun rays, or taking a stroll on the beach, which is over half a mile long.

While the Atlantic sea can sometimes be quite rough, the neverending shades of blue waters are plentiful, providing another stunning view on our petite island paradise. Have you ever visited this loved beach?
