What's Happening: May 2012

May is here! Take a look at the up and coming events in Barbados this month!

Barbados May Event 1. Mothers Day Tea At Fisherpond Great House- Come and celebrate your mum this Saturday 5th May from 3:30PM-5:30PM at Fisherpond Great House for an evening of tea and nibbles. Enjoy the magical gardens which Fisherpond offers while relaxing with your loved ones. For more information on this event, please contact (246) 427-7622.

Barbados May Event 2. Canadian Football Fantasy Camp- This event will be held from the 2nd-6th May and brings 24 Canadian Football League players along with 16 local winners of a giveaway. This event promotes football on Barbados' landscape and has great television coverage with many young athletes performing. For more information on this event, please see their website. 

Barbados May Event 3. An Afternoon at Illaro Court- This event is presented by the Methodist Church of Barbados and will be held at the famous Illaro Court on the 5th May from 1:00PM- 6:00PM. It will an afternoon filled with culinary delights, entertainment, a farmers market, plant shop and kids center- with the admission of $10.00 per person and children under 15 are FREE. Go out and support as part of the proceeds will be donated to a local charity.

Barbados May Event 4. Crop Over Festival Calvacade- This is the island's warm up event for Crop Over. The first 3 Calvacade events will be held on the 12th, 19th and 26th May from 7:00PM and will have both a youth focus and vintage focus. Barbados May Event 5. Grinding Canes at Morgan Lewis Windmill- This is a one of a kind event which should not be missed as Morgan Lewis windmill will be grinding cane for both locals and travellers to enjoy and experience some Barbadian culture. This event will be held at Morgan Lewis windmill on the 6th May from 10:00AM- 2:30PM. The admission is $15.00 per person which includes a complimentary 2litre bottle of fresh cane juice!

Barbados May Event 6. International Museum Day- Tour Barbados' Museums- This event will be held on 17th May from 9:00AM -4:00PM where you can visit many museums on the island by coach. The tour will consists of visiting the Museum of Parliament and National Heroes Gallery, Nidhe Israel Museum, Folkstone Marine Museum, The Barbados Museum and a surprise secret location! Barbados May Event 7. Gospelfest 2012- This event will be held from 19th-27th May and is known as the premier Christian music and arts festival in the Caribbean. There will be many different events such as sunset concerts, dance conferences and workshops. For more information on this event, please see their website.
