What's Happening: Barbados Food Wine & Rum Festival {Ambrosia IV}

One of the most popular events of the Barbados Food Wine and Rum Festival is Ambrosia, it can actually be known as “the” flagship event of the festival. This year there were 4 internationally acclaimed chefs {Anne Burrell, Jose Garces, Aaron McCargo Jr. and Mark McEwan}, along with 13 of the top local chefs/restaurants. 

As you entered the estate of Lion Castle you were ushered into the tented area and greeted with your all in one plate and wine glass! This allowed you to be able to eat with one hand and hold everything else with the other hand, as there is so much to do, see and of course taste!

Ambrosia was buzzing with atmosphere as everyone decided which chef’s creation they should try next. Each chef had sample plates of their masterpieces, allowing you to try the diverse types of food at the event. Many of the dishes were international with a Caribbean flair, from slow roasted pulled pork tacos to hearty empanadas to pan seared yellow fin tuna to breadfruit mash. This event was like taking a trip down a gastronomic highway! 

Not only did you get to taste all the culinary delights, but all the renowned and local chefs were displayed before your very eyes, cooking and chatting many of the guests! Anne Burrell even stopped to take photos with her fans and many of the other chefs explained their signature dishes with such passion and enthusiasm.

Not only was there tons of food to try but there were an array of wines to choose from; compliments of Wine World and Mount Gay Rum was set up and ready for those rum drinkers and late night partiers!
