What's Happening: Barbados Events February 2014
31st January, 2014Barbados February 2014 Event 1. An Evening of Elegance- This event will be held on the 1st February at the Government House, St. Michael from 7PM- 11PM. This event is hosted by The Give Back Queen's College Charity, under the patronage of His Excellency Sir Elliot Belgrave, Governor General of Barbados. The event will offer patrons international cuisine, performances and dancing of course. There will be performances by Sir Cliff Richard, John Lodge of The Moody Blues, Rosemary Phillips accompanied by Willie Kerr andThe Crustaceans Quartet. Funds are to build a multi-purpose sports facility at Queen's College. Minimum donation is Bds $450.00 per couple; $250.00 per single; $100.00 per child. Barbados February 2014 Event 2. Open House at Fisherpond Great House, St. Thomas- This open house is hosted by the Barbados National Trust. This 300 year-old mansion sat empty for years until John Chandler’s magic touch transformed it to the jewel it is today. Built of rubble stone in Caribbean Georgian style, it was later extended with an enclosed gallery. It is now beautifully filled with antiques, paintings and objects d’art. With a magnificent dining table that can seat 24, it is splendid for planter’s lunches and private parties, for which the Chandlers are now renowned hosts. Luckily, you can book one. This event will be held on the 5th February from 2:30PM to 5:30PM. Admission for the event is as follows: General Bds $30.00, Children 5-10 yrs of age $15.00, Children under 5 Free, BARP Members $25.00, Members of the Barbados National Trust $20.00 upon presentation of membership card. Barbados February 2014 Event 3. Agrofest 2014- This National Agricultural Exhibition will be held on the 28th February at Queens Park, St. Michael. There will be farmers, craft persons and processors of agricultural products involved in the exhibition. Last year there were approximately 60,000 visitors over the three day show and over 250 exhibits running daily. For more information on this event, please call 246-436-6683.
Barbados February 2014 Event 4. Hike Barbados: Independence Square (Great Train Hike)- This event will be held on the 16th February starting at the car park on south side of Careenage at 6:00AM. The Great Train Hike follows the tracks of the old train line from its start in Bridgetown to its end in Belleplaine St. Andrew. This is a 25+ mile hike. It will take MANY hours (long past mid-day). Many hikers do only one or several of the sections. Admission is free and to find out more about this event see here.
