Top 5: South-East Coast Beaches in Barbados
6th September, 2013The South-East coast of Barbados is home to many astonishing beaches. Locals and tourists alike crave the white, sandy beaches and the crystal clear blue waters. Below, is our list of what we think are the top 5 South-East coast beaches in Barbados!
Barbados South-East Coast Beach #1: The Crane Beach – I couldn’t possibly make mention of a beach on the South-East coast of Barbados without first mentioning The Crane! The Crane is one of the most popular beaches in Barbados, and also the world, as it was listed as one of the top ten beaches in the world by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. The Crane resembles a private getaway beach since it’s surrounded by cliffs on either side. Engulfed in history and pure beauty, The Crane definitely must be added to your Barbados to-do list!
Barbados South-East Coast Beach #2: Foul Bay – Foul Bay is a huge beach, with its white sandy beaches stretching to what can feel like an infinite distance. The sea is surreal, with the countless shades of blues spanning the horizon. While the water is beautiful and refreshing, it can get quite rough at times, and there are no lifeguards, so you must be cautious at all times. A few Casurina trees populate the beach, giving off a bit of shade, adding that last perfect element to a beach picnic.
Barbados South-East Coast Beach #3: Harrismith Beach – Harrismith Beach is definitely off the beaten track, and is not one of the first beaches the receptionist at your hotel will tell you to visit. With that said, though, it is definitely worth the mini road trip! With beautiful white sand, bold rock formations creating a little lagoon of astounding blue water, we think that this desolate beach will feel like your very own paradise island.
Barbados South-East Coast Beach #4: Bottom Bay – As the waters can get extremely rough at Bottom Bay, swimming here is not recommended, but should definitely be added to your list of stops for your island tour! Bottom Bay provides a stunning panoramic view of the south, and people who live nearby have said there have been sightings of turtles and whales off the coast! It’s pretty incredible to see how all of the many beaches in Barbados differ and have their own personalities!
Barbados South-East Coast Beach #5: Skeete’s Bay – At Skeete’s Bay you will stumble upon a small fishing community. While not as massive as Oistins, there is a small fish market and traditional fishing boats scattered across the water. There are cliffs that people enjoy hiking on, while taking in the scenic view. Nearby, is the Ragged Point Lighthouse, which is another place one can view the beautiful coastline from. Skeete’s Bay is a safe area to swim and enjoy the sea, but again, there are no lifeguards, so don’t venture out too far!
Evidently, the South-East Coast in Barbados boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! There is drama and serenity, adventure and relaxation and sheer beauty found at each beach.
