Barefoot on the Beach: Foul Bay Beach Barbados
4th February, 2013
One of those forgotten beaches on the South-East coast of Barbados is Foul Bay Beach, and it just so happens that it is also one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Foul Bay beach is both a long and wide expanse of pinkish white sands with rugged cliff faces at either side of the beach. Seeing that the beach is so expansive, it can never feel, nor is it ever crowded.
The sea at Foul Bay is usually a bit rough and much better for body boarding than swimming. However if there is begining of swell the waters are drawn out to sea and it becomes very calm. When you drive down the hill towards the beach, the ocean that faces you exudes amazing colours like you have never seen before- the aquamarine, teal and the many blues of barbados that you long for. There is a small shaded area with casaurina trees and a parking lot if you are driving or have a rent a car.
Foul Bay is the perfect beach for picnics and gatherings along with other sand activities like paddle ball and of course sun bathing. Please note there is no lifeguard at this beach so you must be aware of your surroundings and be careful if swimming.
There are many close by beaches which you may also visit when at Foul Bay, these being The Crane beach, Bottom Bay beach, Harrysmith Beach and Ginger Bay beach.
