Top five beaches Barbados - Conset Bay

The beaches on the East Coast of Barbados are featured in the lists of many Barbadians favourite spots to go. Here at Loop Barbados, we have made a list of what we think are the Top 5 beaches on the East Coast! Add some of these places to your list of places to go when you plan your island tour!

Top five east coast beaches - Cattlewash Beach

Barbados East Coast Beach #1 – Cattlewash: Cattlewash is quite a popular “get away” spot for many Barbadians, especially in the summer months. When you’re at Cattlewash, you do feel like you are in a completely different country! The scenic landscape is mesmerizing, and the air you breathe in is so fresh, that it feels like you are cleansing your body, mind and soul with every breath you take. The beach got its name many years ago, when people brought their cattle to the sea to bathe them! While the beach is beautiful, the current in the ocean can get a little rough (like the majority of the beaches on the east coast,) so be cautious if you decide to go swimming!

Top five East coast beaches in Barbados - Bathsheba beach

Barbados East Coast Beach #2 – Bathsheba: Known as a landmark because of its massive mushroom rocks on the shoreline, is Bathsheba. Bathsheba is well known around the world as one of the top rated places to surf! The Bathsheba area is populated with quaint restaurants and rum shops, as well as local vendors selling handmade jewelry and souvenirs.

Top five East coast beaches - Martin's Bay

Barbados East Coast Beach #3 – Martin’s Bay: Described as a little haven on the East Coast, is Martin’s Bay. The sea is perfect for soaking in, as the reef breaks the waves, creating small, calm pools close to the shoreline of the relatively rough ocean. Martin’s Bay is also a favourite spot of the local fishermen, and you can be sure to get a taste of their freshly caught fish at The Bay Tavern Restaurant, which is ideally located in Martin’s Bay!

Barbados East Coast Beach #4 – Bath Beach: Unlike many other bays and beaches on the east coast, Bath Beach rarely has strong tides and currents. Having a swim or a soak in the refreshing sea, and then enjoying your picnic on the picnic benches scattered on the beach, shaded by the trees is such a lovely way to spend your day! Bath Beach is also quite a popular place for Barbadians to spend their summer, “away” from everything!

Top five East coast beaches - Conset Bay

Barbados East Coast Beach #5 – Conset Bay: Hidden away, Conset Bay is quite the treasure to find! It is another paradise to fishermen, and is a feast for the eyes! Overlooking the bay, you see fishing boats scattered across the water, bobbing up and down on the unpredictable sea. This view is picture perfect! As the waters may be calm one day, and rough the next, be cautious if you decide to go swimming. Conset Bay also has a small fish market where you can purchase the freshest, locally caught fish!
