In Season: Mangoes | Barbados Fruit

The trees are filled with yellow, red and purple bursts of tropical goodness; the popular fruit stalls are heavily laden with the sweet, rich, golden deliciousness. This could only mean one thing: mangoes are in season! Mangoes are everywhere by the dozen and it’s the perfect time to indulge in the large variety of mangoes which grow locally on the island. There are over 400 types of mangoes that can be found growing in the more tropical regions of the world and many of these varieties can be found right here in Barbados. The 'Julie' and 'Pawi' variety are the most locally grown types of mangoes and are very popular among locals.

Sliced mangoes | Barbados Fruit

This fruit is truly a delicacy in Barbados and it is common to see young children, climbing the fruit laden branches or throwing stones into the trees hoping to knock a few rip mangoes loose. Be sure to try as many of the amazing variety of mangoes as you can, while enjoying the beauty of Barbados!
