Barbados June Events

It’s getting closer to summer and you know what that means, Crop Over is in the air! Book those tickets and get ready as Barbados celebrates the beginning of the 2016 Crop Over season. We hope to see you here for these exciting events happening in the month of June!

Barbados Event 1. Crop Over in the City: Come out and enjoy a night of sweet calypso melodies from The Band Royal Barbados Police Force, as they ring in the beginning of the Crop Over season with a tribute to the festival. The event will take place in Independence Square Bridgetown on June 2nd from 5pm to 9:30 pm and admission is absolutely FREE.

Barbados Event 2. Crop Over Festival Heritage Walk: Bridgetown by Night Heritage Walk, under the theme- On The Road to Independence. Experience the rich heritage of Barbados as the tales of yester year are brought to life by some of the most talented performing artists and designers the island has to offer. The tour begins at The Cricket Legends of Barbados Museum on June 5th from either 6 pm or 7pm, each tour is 1 hour long. Adults pay $25 BDS and children under 12 pay $10 BDS, tickets are available at www.ticketpal.com

Barbados Event 3. Calypso Tent- House of Soca: Come out and experience classic calypso music at its fines as The House of Soca Calypso Tent opens its doors for the 2016 Crop Over season. This event will be held on June 11th at the Derrick Smith School Auditorium, Jackmans, St Michael. Start time is 8 pm and admission is $25 BDS.

Barbados Event 4. Junior Calypso Monarch: Watch as the junior calypsonians battle for the 2016 title. This highly anticipated event showcases Barbados’ talented young calypsonians while getting them heavily involved in the festivities of the season. The show will be held on June 19th at Combermere School, start time is 6 pm sharp!

Barbados Event 5. Ceremonial Delivery of the Last Canes & Crop Over City Fest: This historic delivery of the last canes has stood as a symbol of the commencement of celebrates for Barbados for a number of years. This year being the island’s 50th anniversary of Independence; we will see an even more highly anticipated event. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness history! Come out to Bridgetown on June 25th to participate in this amazing event. Admission is absolutely Free!

Barbados Event 6. Visual Arts Festival Exhibition: As a part of the annual Crop Over celebrations, the talented visual artists of the island are given a chance to participate in the festival through their art. The Visual Arts exhibition will commence on June 27th and will comprise of both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional arts and crafts. The exhibits can be viewed at the Grande Salle, Central Bank of Barbados and The Queen’s Park Gallery in Pelican Village. Admission is free! Come out and support our local talent.
