6th March, 2014
Parade at the 375th Celebration of Parliament in Barbados

Last week marked the 375th anniversary of Parliament in Barbados, the third oldest parliament in the Western Hemisphere! It was such a spectacular event with endless entertainment! Starting at 10:00a.m., at the Ministry of Education (old Queen’s College) there was a parade of Cadets, Guides, Scouts, the mounted troupe and the Royal Barbados Police Force band, as well as athletes who will participate in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The parade continued along St. Michael’s Row to Jubilee Gardens, along Broad St. and end at the eastern gate of Parliament.

Here they were joined by a contingent of Beefeater Guards from London. A skit about Rachel Pringle, a former barbadian Hotelier from the 1700's was performed which constituted of dances and demonstrations from Barbadian "people of the past" such as Mother Sally, the market women, the pirates, stilt walkers and many others!

A great day and moment in Barbados history to always remember!
