Off the Beaten Track: Skeete's Bay

23rd March, 2016

Nestled along the shoreline of Barbados’ east coast are a number of beautiful bays, many inviting passers by to stop in for a dip. It is along this coastline that you will discover the beautiful and almost untouched Skeete’s Bay. Finding the turn onto Skeete’s Bay is always a bit of a trick, so keep your eyes wide open for the crooked little sign that points your way onto this off the beaten track little island treasure.

This charming hideaway is always perfect for a private dip in the Atlantic, as the beach rarely has more than a handful of visitors at a time. The small fishing village however, is usually a bit more lively with activity during the week, as local fisherman can be seen heading out to sea to bring in the day’s catch or even corking their ancient fishing boats. The bay is quite calm making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling and fishing off the nearby jetty.

For a little more adventure and a breathtaking view, take a short walk/hike up onto the surrounding cliff tops. Here you can relax, take in the amazing Tradewind breezes and view the rugged eastern coastline that Barbados has to offer. This is a must see spot! So be sure to put Skeete’s Bay on your to do list for your next stay in paradise!
