Off the Beaten Track: River Bay

5th June, 2014
River Bay Barbados

On the Eastern side of the North coast of Barbados lies River Bay. The reason for its name comes from the fresh water river which flows right into the sea. This bay is very rugged and has many interesting rock formations, it really offers an expanisve view of the North Eastern coast of the island. River Bay is easily accessible and is a popular picnic spot amongst locals; especially on weekends. There are bathroom facilities and changing rooms along with a few picnic benches for you to relax on. The currents in River Bay can be very strong so we would not advise you to swim here! It's neighboring bay is Little Bay which also has many rock formations and blow holes! River Bay is a great stop on an island tour!
