Off the beaten Track: Pile Bay

12th August, 2015
Pile Bay Barbados

Nestled in front of a distressed but charming fishing village and right next to Freshwater Bay Apartments, Pile Bay is a spectacular beach which is certainly off the beaten track. You would never imagine one of the most stunning beaches in Barbados, bursting with character is hidden off Spring Garden Highway. The waters are crystal clear and calm; making it a perfect bay for relaxing and soaking up the sun and salt. Out to sea is often dotted with old Barbadian Fishing Boats. Due to its location, the beach is usually quiet when it comes to sunbathers but can become busy with fishermen bringing in their catch of the day or even sometimes village folk roasting a breadfruit or two! The only deterrent of this beach is the light and power plant which can be seen when you drive along the road off the highway. However, once you get on the beach this almost disappears! The true island life and culture of the locals can bee seen on daily basis at this bay! It's one not to miss, even if you pop down for a photo and a quick sea bath!
